There are two primary encryption algorithms with differing key strengths to choose from:
56 bit DES
56 bit Blowfish
Triple DES (112 bit)
Blowfish (128 bit)
A performance penalty is paid for all forms of encryption. As a rule the processing time for encrypting backup data is increased by 30% with the DES option. It is also very important to note that the sole owner of the key is the client. If they lose the key for whatever reason, the entirety of their backup data is no longer readable.

Maintaining System Attributes Operating Systems and their associated filing systems maintain various attributes which define security access and other things like alternate data streams. These various attributes are accomodated by the Titan Data Vault Storage Management Protocol (ESMP) and the SIDF format.
